Commander overview

Sauron, the Dark Lord plays best as a Grixis control-engine deck where the Orc Army is both a blocker and a resource battery. The commander does not ask you to be a pure amass tribal deck; he asks you to punish every opposing spell, profit from ring temptations, and cash in those temptations by looting into a much stronger hand.

How this deck wins

Sauron wins by surviving long enough that every opponent spell grows your Army and every ring temptation reloads your hand. Once that engine is working, cards that care about big token bodies, repeated discard-draw, or aristocrats-style pressure let the deck pivot from defense into a fast kill without needing to overcommit creatures.

Common mistakes

The main trap is building Sauron like Lord of the Rings theme tribal instead of a real control deck. The second is ignoring how important disposable support pieces are; if the deck only contains seven-mana bombs and some wheels, Sauron will stabilize too late.
